When Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli square off in the RCB vs. KKR clash, will tensions rise once more?

This IPL season, Gautam Gambhir could not be playing for the Lucknow Super Giants. However, one of the most cunning players in the game will once again square up against Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. When RCB hosts Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru today, it would be interesting to watch how things turn out given what happened between the two Delhi guys in the IPL 2023—both of whom do not back down from a battle.

Fans will find the side story of a possible Part III of the Kohli vs. Gambhir match to be a very intriguing possibility, even if there is no question that the match will be an intense match on the field.

What Would Have Happened in the IPL 2023 Between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli
Here is a summary of what transpired between these two India internationals in the 2023 Indian Premier League for those who are unaware or were living under a rock the previous year.

Following an intense match between LSG and RCB at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Kohli and Gambhir added a new chapter to their intense rivalry. Every time an LSG wicket fell and RCB successfully defended a modest score of 127, Kohli was seen passionately rejoicing. This was in response to Gambhir of LSG being seen booing the fans at M Chinnaswamy Stadium after his team’s exciting one-wicket victory against RCB one month earlier.

As is usual after a match, Gambhir and Kohli shook hands and everything was OK. RCB had beaten LSG by 18 runs to get vengeance for their previous humiliation. But it seems like Gambhir was set off by Kohli’s quick conversation with LSG starter Kyle Mayers after the game, as the two got into a heated altercation.

Fascinatingly, Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli were seen bickering at the post-match handshake, with Glenn Maxwell restraining the LSG bowler.

Of the two, Gambhir seemed the more excited, and he was constantly restrained from lunging in at Kohli. Eventually, with players, match officials, and support personnel from both sides around them, the two got near. Playing the role of peacekeeper, Amit Mishra attempted to pacify Kohli. The two had previously spoken to each other on the pitch.

Gambhir was still captaining the Kolkata Knight Riders and competing in the Indian Premier League back in 2013. During their play against RCB, Gambhir and the RCB batsman rushed at one other violently before being apart, as Kohli was making his way back to the dugout after being removed in the tenth over. Later on, Gambhir made it clear that the two are not in a romantic rivalry.
