Elderly Man Kills Daughter-in-Law in Agra; Turns Himself In; Constable Husband Listed in FIR

An upsetting occurrence occurred on Tuesday when a 62-year-old man, who just so happened to be the father of a police officer assigned to Farrukhabad, showed up at Kirawali police station in the Agra district with bleeding hands and claimed to have murdered his daughter-in-law after a tense family argument.

Priyanka Singh, 29, was the victim, according to a report.

Raghuveer Singh, the culprit and a native of Malikpur village, has admitted to the crime. The event did not include the victim’s police policeman spouse Gaurav Singh, who was absent.

Raghuveer’s report to the police indicates that the bereaved daughter-in-law had been living at her in-laws’ home after the death of her husband. However, she and her younger sister-in-law, Priyanka, regularly got into disputes.

“On Monday night, the argument between the two daughters-in-law became more heated, and when Raghuveer tried to step in, Priyanka kicked him, knocking him to the ground. He then struck his daughter-in-law with an axe, which caused her skull to be severed, according to deputy commissioner of police Sonam Kumar.

The accused said that while he had wanted to keep peace between the two daughters-in-law, their ongoing arguments had strained relations.

The First Information Report (FIR) also names Gaurav, the victim’s husband, as a suspect. According to the Indian Penal Code (IPC), they are accused of violating sections 302 (murder), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), and 34 (acts committed by several people to advance a same goal).
