Five lakh people get Ram Lalla’s darshan the day following Pran Pratishtha

AYODHYA/LUCKNOW: On Tuesday, as the Ram temple’s gates opened, more than five lakh worshipers flocked there. A day earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had presided over the ceremonies in a lavish consecration event that drew over 7,200 people from all over the world.

A detachment of 8,000 police officers were stationed on and around the grounds to handle stampede-like scenarios that arose from crowds breaking over barriers on a few times throughout the morning.
Even though the number of devotees had improved by nightfall, lines still extended beyond the temple’s main entrance on Ram Path.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived at the temple complex to assess crowd control after an airborne assessment of the town, despite an apparently never-ending influx of worshippers swarming the shrine.

A devotee waits in line for her turn to get darshan. Prashant Kumar, the DGP for law and order, and Sanjay Prasad, the senior secretary for homes, were in the sanctum sanctorum to manage the line. On the grounds of the temple, the chief minister and high ranking officials convened to deliberate on how to improve the handling of the throng of people.
Before the consecration event, more than 1.5 lakh devotees arrived in Ayodhya and checked into dharmshalas and homestays. A few people slept outside overnight with the intention of entering the temple as soon as the gates opened on the first morning after the god Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha.
After a few days, a senior official reported that the devout, the most of whom were from the nearby regions, had declined to come to Ayodhya for Ram Lalla’s darshan.
Many of them arrived on foot, staggering over the Saryu and across farms and railroad lines. “By the time the borders were sealed, the number of visitors had swelled to 7-8 lakh,” according to the officer.
Ram Path was blocked till dusk. For those who had nowhere to stay, police offered food and housing.
Although the exact number of visitors to the temple on the first day after its dedication is still unknown, state communications director Shishir predicted that 2.5–3 lakh people would have arrived by afternoon.
Laxman Hanchinmani, a Karnataka resident from Dharwad, started waiting in line early on Tuesday. “I realized it wouldn’t be possible to be among the first people to enter the shrine when I arrived at Janmabhoomi Path. He told TOI, “There were thousands of people crowding the passage ahead of me.
Once the rush began to get out of hand, the district boundaries were once again locked. After ten to fifteen days, the district government again urged devotees to travel to Ayodhya. In the meanwhile, busses headed for Ayodhya were canceled by UP Road Transport Corporation.
