On Akhilesh Yadav’s birthday, SP employees cut a cake in the shape of a tomato

On Saturday, Samajwadi Party members in Varanasi celebrated the 50th birthday of their leader Akhilesh Yadav by cutting a cake in the form of a tomato and handing out tomatoes to demonstrate how expensive they had become.

The celebration’s organizer remarked that although they could have offered sweets, “even the sweets have become expensive.”

“We always make a big deal out of our leader’s birthday. But this time, the price increase is the highest it has ever been. We could have given them candy, but even candy is becoming more costly. The cost of tomatoes is Rs 120 per kilogram. Even the tomato chutney that we consume with chapatis in our communities is being taken off our plates, he said, according to PTI.

So, he said, “we are distributing tomatoes and also cutting a cake that looks like a tomato.”

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, wished Yadav a happy birthday.

“Happy birthday to Akhilesh Yadav, national president of the Samajwadi Party. May Lord Ram grant you good health, Adityanath said in a Hindi tweet.

Yadav received excellent health and a long life from Mayawati.

Currently serving as the leader of the opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly is four-term Lok Sabha Member Akhilesh Yadav.

In addition to serving (once) in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council from 2012 to 2018, he served as the state’s chief minister from 2012 to 2017.
