Right side of the law, no need to stir up the shrine: VHP

LUCKNOW: Alok Kumar, the recently appointed leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, said on Monday that Kashi and Mathura did not need any agitation. “We’re in compliance with the law, and the court should handle this situation.

The law will proceed as it pleases. Shortly after the VHP central management committee meeting in Ayodhya, Kumar told TOI, “There is no need for any agitation for Kashi and Mathura.”

His remarks followed the Allahabad High Court’s dismissal of the Gyanvapi mosque management committee’s appeal against the Varanasi court’s Jan. 31 ruling permitting prayers in the complex’s southern subterranean.
RN Singh is replaced as the full-time worldwide president of the VHP by Kumar, who was elected without opposition. In addition to being a lawyer, Kumar was an RSS ‘pracharak’ for six years, from 1974 to 1980. He is considered an old guard member of the organization.
