UP Teacher Encourages Students To Slap Muslim Student, Launching Investigation by Muzaffarnagar Police and NCPCR

In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a video showing a teacher reportedly instigating Hindu pupils to slap a Muslim student went viral on Friday. This prompted the Muzaffarnagar police to take notice of the event and initiate an inquiry.

The instructor Tripta Tyagi is heard stating, “I have declared jitne bhi Mohammedan bachhe hai…” in the allegedly obtained video as the class members took turns slapping and beating a Muslim pupil. The instructor was heard asking, “Why are you not hitting him harder,” as the youngster sobbed hysterically.

An investigation into the incident at the Neha Public School in the Thanakshetra village of Khubbapur, where “a teacher is encouraging students to beat up a student in the class and making religious remarks,” according to jurisdictional Khatauli Dr. Ravi Shankar, has been ordered by the Muzaffarnagar police.

Mohammed Zubair, a fact-checker and co-founder of Altnews, talked with the student’s Muslim father. We’ve reached an understanding in which I will withdraw my child from school but won’t report anything to the authorities, the father added. The father said, “I didn’t want to file a police complaint because I don’t want to be called by Police or by court every now and then, I don’t want to get into all these…” when asked why he had decided against doing so.

The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has now taken notice of the occurrence and issued a warning not to circulate the child’s footage. “Instructions are being issued for action, everyone is requested not to share the video of the child, give information about such incidents by email, and do not become a part of the crime by revealing the identity of the children,” said Priyank Kanoongo, Chairman NCPCR.
