Yogi, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, calls for the timely issuance of certificates of income and caste

According to a government statement issued on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed all district magistrates (DMs) in the state to speed up the delivery of e-district services and cut the existing processing time to one week.

The statement made clear that the current processing time for these services was unreasonably long. In order to avoid delays in the issuance of caste, domicile (residence), income, and status certificates, the DMs have also been tasked with establishing accountability for cases that go beyond the allotted time frame and taking strict action against officers who neglect their duties in processing e-district services.

Yogi was given the proposal for e-district services during a recent review meeting at the CM Command Centre and Dashboard by government representatives. During the meeting, representatives revealed that from January to the present, the state had received a total of 61,32,976 requests for caste certificates. Typically, the relevant tehsildar processes and issues these applications in 15 days. But as of right now, 59,13,420 of these applications, or 96%, have been handled. 2,12,227 applications are still outstanding as of this writing inside the allotted time span, while an additional 7,329 applications are still pending after the time limitation has gone.

Similar to that, 76,45,970 requests for residency certificates have been made since January. Usually, these certifications are provided in 20 days or less. 73,70,019 of these applications, or 95 percent, have been processed thus far. However, 2,75,433 applications are still outstanding as of the present date, and 54,984 applications are still pending even after the time limit has passed.

The statement also mentioned the 31,853 status certificate applications that have been submitted since January. The DMs award these certifications within 45 days. 31,853 of these applications, or 58%, have been processed so far. In addition, 9,765 applications remain unanswered even after the deadline has passed and 3,421 applications are still waiting as of the deadline. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for speedy processing of these applications, setting a goal of 100% completion with zero tolerance for carelessness.

Banda, Sitapur, and Amethi are the districts that consistently provide caste certificates on time, whereas Auraiya, Ghaziabad, and Lucknow have the worst processing rates, according to the Integrated Grievances Redressal System (IGRS) report. In a same vein, when it comes to processing requests for domicile certificates, Sitapur, Banda, and Kannauj do best, while Auraiya, Lucknow, and Jalaun perform worst. Sitapur, Banda, and Shahjahanpur outperform other districts in terms of processing income certificate requests quickly, whereas Auraiya, Ghaziabad, and Kaushambi lag behind. Shamli, Ghaziabad, and Hardoi are the districts that handle status certificate applications the fastest, while Jalaun, Shahjahanpur, and Ballia are the slowest.
