Newspaper Ad by Bombay Shaving Co. Endorsing Prachi Nigam Backfires on “Poor Taste”

Prachi Nigam drew notice with her amazing achievement in the Class 10 board examinations of Uttar Pradesh, where she scored an astounding 98.5 percent. Nevertheless, trolls started making fun of her for having facial hair rather than praising her. This regrettable circumstance highlighted another facet of our culture’s mentality, which prioritizes beauty above real accomplishments. This is seen in the extensive discourse on social media about Nigam’s attractiveness over her intellectual prowess.

Unexpectedly, a company has now chosen to join the discussion, voicing support for the adolescent while tactfully endorsing its own line of goods. Many were taken aback by this decision, and many on the internet chastised the business for taking advantage of such a delicate matter.

Everything started when ‘X’ user Gabbar Singh posted a screen grab of an advertisement in the newspaper for the women’s face razor Bombae, which is made by the Bombay Shaving Company. “Dear Prachi, they are trolling your hair today, they’ll applaud your A.I.R. tomorrow,” the advertisement said, addressing Prachi. It didn’t stop there, however. There was more to it, however. The note below advised her to use their razor and to resist giving in to bullying. “We hope you never get bullied into using your razor,” they say.

The question of whether the brand was taking advantage of the circumstances for personal benefit was raised by this subtle promotional strategy.

The original poster (OP) immediately received criticism, saying things such as, “The kid would want this episode to end as soon as possible.” However, no! A company wants to rebrand themselves. without her permission. to market their personal razors. Extremely bad taste “Marketing is as cold a business as selling caskets,” another person said.

That is the world we live in, said the third. False indignation and empathy. For individuals, it’s about likes, but for businesses, it’s about business,” said the fourth.

And like that, the criticism began to fall in buckets.

Although Prachi hasn’t commented on the advertising directly, she did once say, “Trollers can live with their mindset, I am happy that my success is now my identity,” in response to the severe trolling she received. She said, “I never worried about my looks, and my family, professors, and friends never made fun of me for how I looked. People didn’t begin to harass me until my picture was released after the results, at which point I became aware of the issue.
