After layoffs, Tesla revokes the internship of a 21-year-old student, citing “extreme disappointment.”

An internship is a person’s first step toward landing a corporate position in an attempt to launch a career. A highly competent worker is required for most occupations in order to do their tasks. Young professionals are now encouraged to apply to a variety of areas for attractive internship programs. With the abundance of paid internships and summer employment available, students may begin their careers with major corporations today. And a recent graduate often imagines themselves embarking on a career with industry titans like Google, Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and so on. 21-year-old Brook Gura also had a fantastic opportunity to begin her career with a prestigious company: Tesla.

After three weeks of interviews, Bura received an offer from Tesla for a summer internship in February. The start date of the 12-week internship was set for May 20. According to Business Insider, Gura, a student at the University of Texas, was excited to work as a recruitment intern in Tesla’s HR division for the summer. However, the manufacturer withdrew her offer three weeks before the commencement of her internship. She is now revising alternative ideas.

It was thrilling. I wanted to intern at a large corporation. It was also in the vicinity. Gura stated, “I wouldn’t have had to move.” She went on to say that she was so excited about the pay—$26 (about Rs 2,100) per hour—that she had turned down other offers to intern at Tesla.

Gura said to Business Insider that, despite layoffs, she wasn’t immediately concerned. “When compared to full-time staff, interns are very inexpensive. “I reasoned that since they were attempting to reduce, I might actually be working more,” she said.

Gura got an email asking for a callback from a Tesla recruiter a few days later. In her quest for further information, Gura stumbled onto a LinkedIn post from a fellow intern who had lost their offer. The Tesla recruiter informed her after a brief phone conversation that “the company was making cuts that were going to start impacting interns.”I was intended to be there. There was no opportunity for haggling,” Gura, who was upset, said.

Regarding the layoffs at Tesla:

In April, Tesla revealed layoffs that would affect 10% of the company’s employees. According to the Electrek article, Tesla workers got emails over the weekend informing them of more layoffs. Last month, the corporation announced that it would be laying off around 6,700 workers across its facilities in Texas, California, Nevada, and New York.
