This couple was celebrating India’s World Cup victory over South Africa despite the wedding muhurat

Cricket enthusiasts across joyfully greeted Team India’s victory over South Africa in Sunday’s ICC World Cup match. A couple in Uttar Pradesh took a break from their wedding to celebrate Rohit Sharma and Co.’s thrilling victory, while several of them indulged in all-night parties. As they stood for photos on the wedding stage, bride Daniya and groom Soib Siddiqui, together with their family, friends, and the Indian flag, held up images of star batsman Virat Kohli. In celebration, a few visitors lighted sparklers as well. This unique fusion of a World Cup game victory party and a wedding happened in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.

“It is a ‘double dhamaka’ for me as today is my wedding and India has also won and Virat Kohli has equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record,” Soiab remarked in an interview with ANI. Daniya said, “It feels incredible. This day will always be in our memories. There is twice the delight.

A video of Soib and Daniya’s special wedding party was shared by ANI on X, the old Twitter platform, on Sunday night. Thousands of people have liked the video, indicating that internet users really appreciate it. The newlyweds were referred to as “Coupe goals” by an X user.

One guy said, “Oh man, this sport is really in the bloodline of Indians,” while they were resharing this video. “What a beautiful moment to celebrate love, success, and togetherness!” commented another commenter. I’m hoping for many more wins for Team India and Kohli!

India defeated South Africa on Sunday by an astounding 243 runs. The Proteas only scored 83 runs before being bowled out, compared to the 326 runs scored by the Indian squad. The route for India to win was made possible by Virat Kohli’s 101. The Indian bowlers deserve recognition as well, since they knocked out the South African squad in a just 27.1 overs. The famous Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata hosted the game.

There have been other weddings when cricket has been a part of the festivities. A video that surfaced earlier in June showed people gathering in front of an IPL 2023 screen at a wedding location when it streamed the finals. The footage went viral.

“Everyone began watching the match instead of the wedding ceremony,” the caption above the video said, referring to last night’s cricket match.
