With 6,146 cases registered in September, Bihar is seeing a worrisome spike in dengue infections amid rising rates in other states. This is the most for the month in the previous five years, per statistics from the health department, as reported by the news agency PTI. This year, the state recorded a total of 6,421 instances, 6,146 of which were only reported in September. This is more than three times the 1,896 cases reported in September of the previous year.

A total of 416 instances were recorded on Friday, with the majority (177) occurring in Patna, followed by Munger (33), Saran (28), Bhagalpur (27), and Begusarai (17).
Seven dengue fatalities have been recorded in Bihar as of September 17 of this year, according to the National Center for Vector Borne Disease Control of the Union Health Ministry.

The health department’s records show that 13,972 instances in all were documented over the previous year.

According to Chandrasekhar Singh, the district magistrate for Patna, the government keeps a careful eye on things every day and conducts fogging and spraying. Additionally, he said that camps are being held to raise awareness of vector-borne illnesses.

The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), according to Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, has started a significant campaign to combat the city’s rising dengue incidence.

In order to do chemical fogging, 140 trucks and handheld equipment are used. For fogging operations, 375 teams have been formed. Residential buildings that have recently reported dengue cases are routinely sanitized, the official added.

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, has also called a review meeting to discuss the state’s condition and has ordered the authorities to increase vigilance to avoid any more dengue-related fatalities.
