Lalu Yadav’s Supreme Court bail is being contested by the CBI in the case of the fodder scam

Lalu Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is now facing new legal difficulties since the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has petitioned the Supreme Court to dispute the bail that was granted to him in connection with charges involving the notorious fodder scandal. The plea from the CBI will be heard by the top court on August 25.

In many instances connected to the 950-crore fodder scandal, which includes the alleged misappropriation of money from several government treasuries throughout undivided Bihar allocated for animal fodder, Lalu Yadav has been granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court. Notably, it is thought that the Animal Husbandry Department issued fraudulent invoices as part of the accused conspiracy.

The CBI’s decision to oppose the bail decisions complicates the legal procedures since it has challenged each of the four bail orders issued by the Jharkhand High Court. The appeals of Lalu Yadav, who was found guilty in several instances, are still ongoing in different courts.

When Lalu Yadav was the chief minister in 1996, Chaibasa Deputy Commissioner Amit Khare discovered the fraud, which is how the fodder scandal initially came to light. Since then, the matter has drawn considerable attention and turned into a drawn-out courtroom conflict.
