RJD leader Ashfaque Karim quits, claiming the party is stealing the rights of Muslims

Bihar: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, Ahmed Ashfaque Karim, a prominent politician of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and a former Rajya Sabha MP, announced his resignation from Lalu Prasad’s party. Ashfaque Karim accused RJD chairman Lalu Yadav’s party of stealing Muslim rights in a letter he submitted.

Serious accusations against RJD supremo Lalu Yadav were made by Ashfaq Karim in a letter. He said that the party supported the caste census as a means of determining the proportion of each group represented in society and using that information to build social programmes. However, he claimed that the census had also taken away Muslim rights.

Ashfaq further said that the party does not provide Muslims with a fair share in accordance with their demographic, and that because of this, he is unable to be a member of the RJD.
