In India, Toyota will release the Rumion MPV in September based on the Maruti Ertiga

In a significant step, Toyota is getting ready to release the much anticipated Rumion MPV in India, which is based on the well-liked Maruti Ertiga.

This exciting breakthrough is the result of the two manufacturers’ partnership, with Maruti Suzuki managing the manufacturing and delivery of the Toyota Rumion.

The Rumion, which was first offered in South Africa in October 2021, is already well-known elsewhere. During the same month, Toyota lost no time in registering the name Rumion as a trademark in India. The Rumion will soon be introduced, becoming Toyota’s fourth MPV in India, following the Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, and Vellfire, all of which have had tremendous success. Notably, a complete model redesign for the Vellfire MPV is also anticipated shortly.

The Rumion MPV looks quite similar to the Ertiga, its equivalent from India, with just a minor visual differences. It stands apart because to the grille, distinctive alloy wheel design, and Toyota emblems rather than Suzuki ones.

Both MPVs feature the same layout and equipment list within the cabin. The Indian variant of the Rumion is more likely to have interiors with a beige color scheme, in contrast to the South African model’s all-black interior.

The 1.5-liter petrol engine with 103 horsepower and 137 pound-feet of torque from the Ertiga will power the Rumion, guaranteeing a comfortable and effective ride. Customers will have the choice of a six-speed torque converter automatic or a five-speed manual gearbox.

Toyota also intends to provide a CNG powerplant alternative in the future. The Rumion will be offered in a three-row, eight-seater configuration, similar to the Ertiga, providing plenty of room for families and their adventures.

Another excellent Toyota and Suzuki joint venture under their strategic relationship is the Rumion. As the second Maruti-supplied vehicle for Toyota in India, the Rumion follows in the footprints of the Glanza, which is based on the Maruti Baleno.

In exchange, Maruti provides Toyota with a variety of vehicles for the global market, including the Belta, Vitz, and Starlet variants of the Ciaz, Celerio, and Baleno. In addition, Toyota produces both the Grand Vitara and the Hyryder in its Bidadi facility in Karnataka, a Maruti vehicle.

Notably, Maruti also contributed the newly released Invicto MPV, based on the Innova Hycross, which is marketed under the Toyota name in India. This partnership has been successful for both businesses since Toyota provides Suzuki with the Toyota RAV4 SUV, marketed as the Suzuki Swace in areas like the UK, and the Corolla Wagon.

Given Toyota’s reputation for excellence and Maruti’s dominant position in the Indian automotive industry, the Rumion MPV’s entry in the country is eagerly awaited.

The Rumion is ready to have a big effect on the MPV market thanks to its roomy cabin, dependable performance, and support from two prestigious brands. When this exciting new product debuts on Indian roads in September, car fans and families alike may anticipate it with excitement.
