Sensex down 300 points, Nifty below 19,700, Hero Moto down 2% in the stock market

Following muted indications from international markets, domestic markets opened Wednesday’s trading on a shaky note.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex fell over 300 points, or 0.4%, to trade at 66,197, while the Nifty50 slid more than 50 points, or 0.4%, below 19,700.

The Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indexes showed modest movements as well, declining up to 0.4%.

World cues

Japan’s Nikkei 225 led losses in other parts of Asia with a decrease of 1.21 percent. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia declined 0.67 percent, the Kospi in South Korea dropped 0.64 percent, and the Hang Seng in Hong Kong lost 0.9 percent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended Tuesday’s trading day in the US 0.2% higher, but the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both fell.
