The last five years saw Rajasthan get Rs 1,024.4 billion in green tax, according to a minister

The state legislature was informed on Monday that the Rajasthan government has collected Rs 1,024.4 crore in green tax during the previous five years.

Minister of State for Transport Brijendra Singh Ola stated in a written response to members of the Rajasthan legislature that the government earned Rs 1,024.4 crore in green tax between 2018–19 and 2022–23.

In response to a query from BJP MLA Satish Poonia, Ola replied that the amount was disclosed in the accounts that had been drawn up after adding up data from the Accountant General’s office.

According to him, there is no official information available about Jaipur and Jodhpur being included among the top 15 most polluting cities in the world in the World Health Organization study.

According to him, under the Rajasthan Motor Vehicle Taxation Act of 1951, the Rajasthan Transport Infrastructure Development Fund is responsible for collecting the one-time tax, surcharge on other taxes, and green tax levied on both new and used cars. The Rajasthan Stamp Act is responsible for collecting the surcharge on stamp duty.
