“About Time A Star Debunked The Airport Look Nonsense,” praises Shobhaa De of Kangana Ranaut

After Kangana Ranaut referred to herself as a “victim of capitalism” and said goodbye to the “airport look,” writer Shobhaa De praised the Bollywood actress for bringing attention to the fashion business.

De added that it was past time for a celebrity to condemn the “nonsense” airport look.

“About time a star spoke up and refuted the ‘airport look’ nonsense,” De said in a tweet. I appreciate you being open about the pressure that foreign companies are putting on local creative communities by taking advantage of desi insecurities.

On Friday, Kangana posted a number of images from her airport on her Instagram stories.

She claimed responsibility for instigating the airport style trend in India. She posted a series of images featuring various airport outfits with the statement, “Only person to blame for starting the stupid trend of airport looks.”

Following that, she identified herself as a “Victim of capitalism.”

“Magazine editors and the fashion business brainwashed me to appear like a western lady so that I only lined the coffers of foreign designers. I’m embarrassed to keep purchasing clothing without considering how my decisions may affect the earth.

“While I behave like a bimbo, the system celebrates me as a fashionista to motivate me to support more foreign products while my own people, like as weavers and handicraftsmen, are slowly but surely perishing. Then they cunningly start to price tag everything I wear, turning it into a vanity problem for me, and guess what? I fall into the trap. Now, even for someone who is truly fashionable, it’s more about labels than it is about style’, she said.

Fashion companies “make you work for them for free by just sending clothes and bags they start to hijack cultures and tradition of an entire civilisation,” according to Kangana.

She said, “If this is how an Indian woman looks, what does an American woman look like?” as she bid farewell to the airport fashion fad. Airport fashion is a thing of the past; goodbye. Now is the moment to consider how many Indians will profit from this, even if I just purchase one article of apparel.
