After 57 years, Saira Banu remembers Dilip Kumar’s dual role in “Ram Aur Shyam.”

As the adored wife of the late great Dilip Kumar celebrated the 57th anniversary of the classic film “Ram Aur Shyam,” Saira Banu turned to Instagram to share her emotions about this timeless work of cinema.

Saira Banu expressed her love for the movie and its unique meaning in her life in a moving statement. She remembered about Dilip Kumar’s outstanding performance, in which he expertly and deeply portrayed the two roles of Ram and Shyam. He demonstrated his flexibility as an actor by embodying power and confidence in his role as Shyam and innocence and tenderness in Ram.

Saira Banu also revealed a fun behind-the-scenes story about her lighthearted effort, while filming another movie, to express her affection for Dilip Kumar via elderly actor Nazir Hussain. This endearing story enriches the already enthralling legacy of “Ram Aur Shyam” with a human touch.

 

Furthermore, Saira Banu remembered with fondness how the films “Shagird” and “Ram Aur Shyam” were important turning points in her life since they were released soon after she married Dilip Kumar. The fact that both movies were enormous successes cemented their legacy in Indian cinema history.

“Ram Aur Shyam,” a timeless masterpiece directed by Tapi Chanakya, still holds spectators’ attention 57 years after. It is a Telugu film “Ramudu Bheemudu” remake with an ensemble cast that includes Pran, Mumtaz, Waheeda Rehman, Dilip Kumar, and Nirupa Roy. The film’s timeless appeal is enhanced by Naushad’s entrancing score and Shakeel Badayuni’s poignant lyrics.
