Singer-songwriter Madonna gave her fans an update on her health on Monday after suffering from a major bacterial illness that required several days in the intensive care unit.

 

Madonna sends fans a message
Madonna posted on Instagram, saying “Thank you for your wonderful energy, Prayers, and words of healing and support. I’ve sensed your affection. I’m recovering well and am immensely appreciative of all the gifts in my life. When I woke up in the hospital, my first thought was of my kids. Second, I did not want to let anybody down who had purchased tickets for my tour.

“I also didn’t want to disappoint the people who worked tirelessly with me over the past few months to develop my show,” she said. I detest disappointing people. My current priorities are improving my health and strength, but I’ll be back with you as soon as I can! The tour will now start in October in Europe and move the North American leg to a new date. I’m really appreciative of your kindness and assistance. Love, M.”

According to her management, Madonna had to postpone her tour after suffering a major bacterial illness on Saturday that required several days in the intensive care unit. “At this time, all commitments—including the tour—will need to be put on hold. As soon as we obtain further information, such as a new start date for the tour and new dates for the postponed concerts, we will share it with you.

According to CNN, Madonna’s tour, known as the Celebration Tour, was slated to begin on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, and end on July 18 with two shows in Seattle.

Before moving on to Europe, the tour was scheduled to continue across the United States and Canada until early October. According to CNN, Madonna also added more concert dates in the US for December and January, which were followed by four performances in Mexico City.
