Happy Birthday, Anu Malik: An Inspirational Tale of Rags to Riches from Music Composer
Today is Anu Malik’s 63rd birthday as a popular music composer. Hunterwali, starring Mohan Choti, marked the beginning of his musical career. Renowned music business personality Anu Malik received his musical heritage from his father, music composer Sardar Malik.
He made his Bollywood debut in 1981 with the movie Poonam. However, he won a Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for his work in the Shah Rukh Khan film Baazigar in 1993, which garnered him significant praise. Anu Malik’s career took off after Baazigar, when he starred in films like as Refugee, Border, Aks, Fiza, LOC Kargil, and Main Hoon Na.
Despite facing accusations and being sexually exploited in the early stages of his career, he was still able to fulfill his ambitions. For his exceptional work in the film Refugee, he was recognized with a National Award and twice received the Filmfare Best Music Director Award. With more than 500 successful songs over almost two decades, Anu Malik made a lasting impression on Bollywood.
He previously said in an interview that, strangely for someone from a family of musicians, as a youngster, he wanted to be a police officer.
Anu Malik decided to pursue a career in music instead of her original goal of becoming a police officer. His musical career began in 1977 with Hunterwali77, and he made contributions to Poonam and Aapas Ki Baat in 1981. His career reached new heights when Sohni Mahiwal gave him his debut in 1984.
Anu Malik’s outstanding musical compositions have transcended geographical borders and had a big influence on the Hindi cinema industry. Prominent movies like China Gate, Virasat, Fiza, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Border, and Filhaal all had him as their music director. His tenacity and unflinching attitude made him stand out as a remarkable character in the Hindi film industry.
In addition, Anu Malik served as an Indian Idol judge from the show’s inception in 2004 until 2018. on 2019, he made a short reappearance on the program as a judge for its eleventh season, and he participated on the judging panel for a segment of its twelfth season. In 2022, he also judged the children’s reality singing competition Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs.
Anjali Vasudev Bhat and Anu Malik got married. Anmol and Ada Malik, the couple’s two daughters, are raised by them.
