Homewrecker, the diva who was dubbed the greatest Indian actress of all time, fell in love with a married guy before passing away at the age of 31

The 1970s saw Smita Patil, a late Bollywood actress and well-known celebrity who acted in Hindi and Marathi movies, dominate the motion picture business. Over the course of her career, which spanned more than ten years, she made over 80 film appearances. In 1985, she was awarded the Padma Shri.

We shall discuss her personal life today, which was not an easy one. When she fell in love with Raj Babbar, who was then married to Nadira Babbar, she was dubbed “the homewrecker.”

Career

In 1975, Patil made her cinematic debut in Charandas Chor, directed by Shyam Benegal. Her performances in movies such as Manthan (1976), Bhumika (1977)—for which she won her first National Film Award—Chakra (1981), which won her second National Film Award and a Filmfare Award—Ardh Satya (1983), “Mirch Masala” (1985), and several more helped her establish herself as a major actress in the film industry.

Individual life

When Patil began dating actor Raj Babbar, it caused controversy and garnered negative attention from the public and media since Babbar had divorced his wife Nadira to be with Patil. On the set of the 1982 movie Bheegi Palkein, the pair initially became together. On November 28, 1986, their son, actor Prateik Babbar, was born.

In addition to the media and fans, Raj Babbar’s mother also referred to the actress as a “homewrecher.”

seen as Shabana Azami’s adversary

Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil, two actresses who worked together on the 1982 film Arth, were likened to one another. Shabana discussed her rivalry with Smita in public in 2015, saying, “I could never be friends with her. Tension resulted from our competition, which was partly fabricated by the media and partly genuine. I acknowledge, as I have in the past, that I felt bad about my insensitive comments about her. I’m sorry I did that. We made an attempt at making amends and managed to keep things polite, but we were never able to become friends. However, it had never affected our family.”

Demise

Actor Raj Babbar was Patil’s husband when she sadly died on December 13, 1986, at the age of 31, from complications after delivery. More than 10 of her films were released after her death.
