Nasseruddin and Shabana from Khamosh reunite for a special screening to commemorate Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 45th birthday

Film Heritage Foundation and PVR Inox are hosting a unique film festival to play nine of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s works in theaters throughout the nation in honor of his 45 illustrious years in the business. The cult movie Khamosh (1986) by Vidhu Vinod Chopra will kick off the film festival. The screening is one of the few opportunities to see the movie since it isn’t streamed on any service. The cast of the movie, which also includes Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, and Soni Razdan, will reunite for this screening.

According to a source close to the director, Khamosh is that rare combination where a filmmaker’s artistry is fully on show yet the movie is still seldom noticed by younger audiences. As a result, it is the ideal movie to open the festival and allow viewers to revisit his masterpiece.

Along with Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Soni Razdan, and many more, Chopra’s other close friends Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Rajkumar Hirani will also attend. There will also be members of Chopra’s upcoming 12th Fail cast, including Vikrant Massey.

In addition to Khamosh, the festival will include additional films directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, including Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, Mission Kashmir, and Eklavya, as well as some of his most adored works by audiences, like the Munna Bhai trilogy, Parineeta, and 3 Idiots.

From October 13 to October 19, PVR-Inox theaters in 28 cities, including Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and many more, will host the film festival.

The release of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next movie, 12th Fail, which is based on a real tale and is set in the world of UPSC students, will carry on his particular style of storytelling. On October 27, the movie, which stars Vikrant Massey, will be released in theaters in the languages of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
