Rekha got into character during the Koi…Mil Gaya shoot, and Hrithik Roshan recalls that she “slapped me really hard”

Whether it was Arjun in ZNMD or Raj in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Hrithik Roshan always created memorable characters for us to identify with in his Bollywood productions. However, the role he played as Rohit Mehra in the 2003 movie Koi Mil Gaya is the one that has endured to this day. His father Rakesh Roshan’s movie from back then, which he also produced, was a box office and financial triumph. As the movie approaches its 20th anniversary, Hrithik discussed his favorite moments in the movie with HT City.

He said, “While making the movie, I felt more connected to my inner kid. I miss it, to be honest. Then I miss Jaadoo because I have an emotional connection to him. Being a member of Koi…I didn’t choose Mil Gaya on purpose to further my career. I made that choice purely out of my heart. When I decided to make the film, I had no idea how I would portray Rohit or what I would do. The moment I first heard the concept, I recall getting stimulated. When I first began to shoot, it was an adventure filled with discovery. I discovered my true acting motivations and became clearer about the kind of movies I wanted to be in the future.

Hrithik acknowledged his fond memories of the filming of a scene in which Rekha receives a smack. “Rekha ma’am is a powerhouse of talent; sharing screen time with her was an absolute delight. We all have a great deal of respect and affection for her since she has been a family friend for many years. She had acted with my father as a co-star and was a part of his film “Khoon Bhari Maang,” but this was the first time we appeared on screen together. I can still see the moment where Rekha Ma’am hits me during filming. She had promised to smack me in real life before we started shooting in order to show the effect. She definitely got into character as we were filming the sequence and smacked me hard. That one was one unforgettable slap, he said. “It really got the emotions going inside of me, and that comes over on film.

The enormously popular movie has been around for 20 years at this point.
