Shahid Kapoor acknowledges that he was first hesitant to take on the role of “Kabir Singh,” but that someone persuaded him to do so

The film Kabir Singh was originally rejected by Shahid Kapoor, despite the fact that it went on to become one of his greatest hits. The ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ actor had previously said in a Pinkvilla interview that he was initially apprehensive to take on the job. Mira Rajput, his wife, was the one who persuaded him to reconsider. Even though he was successful working with Kabir Singh, Shahid said that his first reaction to the proposition was a resounding “no.”

Though he wasn’t sure whether he should remake the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy, he was captivated by the protagonist’s nontraditional depiction after seeing it with Mira. Shahid said that he was apprehensive about taking on a role that had previously been done well by another actor. But Mira urged him on, asking him to put an end to his second-guessing and just go for it since it was the right move for him.
Recalling Mira’s direct instruction, Shahid said, “People want to see you in romantic stories. They like seeing you play imperfect roles. Both are provided by this script. Simply grab the chance.” Though he unduly complicated the choice for himself, Shahid acknowledged that facing Kabir Singh ended up being a godsend. The movie is still regarded as the apex of his twenty-year career, even if its misogynistic characterization has drawn criticism.
