Sushmita Sen sent a heartfelt birthday message for Renee Sen, her daughter and “first love,” on Instagram. On September 4, Renee turned 24. Sushmita sent Renee some images and a heartfelt birthday message on this special occasion. Sushmita expressed her admiration for Renee’s development into a “incredible person” and her hope for her complete happiness.

Sushmita spoke openly about adopting Renee and embracing the life of a single mother earlier this year. Sushmita remembers appearing in court with her father for her adoption petition for Renee while speaking with Twinkle Khanna for Tweak India. Sushmita said that while crying in court, she made a promise to the judge that she would take excellent care of Renee. The court reportedly questioned her father Shubeer Sen about if he fears Sushmita won’t be able to get married after adopting Renee, she said.
Sushmita paraphrased her father, saying, “She has chosen this motherhood and one thing I know my daughter to do is follow through.” In the end, she won the case, and Sushmita brought Renee home.
