Thalaivar 171: Fans Believe Rajinikanth May Have a Connection to Rolex; He Looks Gorgeous in First Look

Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj took fans by surprise when he revealed the first image from his next project starring Rajinikanth. For their first-ever joint project, Lokesh and Rajinikanth would be working on Thalaivar 171. Lokesh posted a dazzling first look on X. A bearded Rajinikanth may be seen wearing watch-made “handcuffs” in the photo. He was spotted with sunglasses and a tough shirt on. But Lokesh chose to keep Rajinikanth monochromatic, even if his sunglasses and wristwatch were colored.

The director shared the image and said that on April 22, he would disclose Thalaivar 171’s title. “#Thalaivar171TitleReveal on April 22,” he said as he revealed the first glimpse. Rumors about a potential Rolex crossover in the movie have been raised by the poster. For those who don’t know, Suriya is referred to in Lokesh’s Cinematic Universe, or LCU, as Rolex.

Following the thread, fans conjectured that Rolex would appear in Rajinikanth’s next movie. A fan enquired, “ROLEX APPAN AH IRKUMOOO (Will it feature Rolex?)” Another said, “Rolex Dady is coming.. #Thalaivar171.” A third fan conjectured, “Is Loki saying #Thalaivar171 is ROLEX ka BAAP?”

Lokesh has earlier said that the movie would be a stand-alone endeavor and not a part of his broader cinematic universe (LCU), in spite of the hypotheses.

Thalaivar 171 is an action thriller, according to Lokesh Kanagaraj, who mentioned it last year when promoting Fight Club. He intends to complete the screenplay in two to three months, and production is set to begin in April.

He said that Rajini maintained in regular contact and keenly watched the development of the movie. Any effort at concealment would be quickly discovered by Rajini. Furthermore, Lokesh said that Rajini would be returning to action-packed scenes in the next movie, which will have more action sequences. With joy in his voice, Rajinikanth said he was captivated by the storyline and was excited to be directing in a genre he had never worked in.

Thalaivar 171, which has music by Anirudh and was written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, will be produced by Sun Pictures.
