Speaking out about leaving Twitter, Karan Johar claims that “I started reading abuse to my children”

Finally speaking out about quitting Twitter, now known as X, is filmmaker Karan Johar. In October of last year, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director stopped using the website. He said at the time that he was vacating the stage to make room for “more positive energies.” The actual reason Karan quit was because he started receiving hateful texts about his children, Yash and Roohi, he said in a recent interview.

According to Karan, he was tolerating harassment directed at him. He was prepared to ignore the offensive texts that made fun of his mother. He could not stand for his kids to be dragged online, however. Yash and Roohi were just five years old when he stepped off the stage.

“When I began reading abusive material to my kids, I took the choice to stop using Twitter out of instinct. This is the lowest you could go when it occurred. Say whatever you want about me. My mother suffered maltreatment as well. My mum is still getting older. I made the choice when my kids were five years old. I won’t be using this platform again anytime soon. Naturally, my business is on it. I recognize Twitter’s significance. But I’m not interested in using this platform. I’m not interested in reading anything about my kids. As a father and a fellow human being, it tears my heart, he remarked.

He made it clear that the claims of nepotism had nothing to do with his decision to leave. “I haven’t stopped casting individuals from the business, just not lately. Or I’ve cut myself off from Alia Bhatt’s amazingness altogether. I didn’t pay attention to anybody. I just stepped off a platform. That wasn’t connected to what I was saying at all. It concerned my children. I was unable to read that. Anyone who has children would understand that is something you wouldn’t accept. You would accept everything, but you cannot accept anything that is against your kid. And I have no idea against whom to fight. They have no names and no faces. I prefer to simply go,” he remarked.

In terms of his career, Karan most recently directed Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The movie opened in July and earned more than Rs 150 at the Indian box office. The director has earlier said that Rocky Aur Rani will be followed by an action flick. He hasn’t yet provided an update on it, however.
