This actress earned more money than Rajinikanth for working with several celebrities and becoming the first Indian to charge Rs 1 crore

Sridevi, a well-known Bollywood actress, passed away on February 24, 2018, making her one of the most well-known figures in Indian film. In addition to Bollywood, Sridevi has experience in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema.

On August 13, 1963, in the Tamil Nadu hamlet of Meenampatti, Sridevi was born. At the age of four, Sridevi made her acting debut, and for over fifty years, she was the best in the business.

In 1976, Sridevi received her first significant part in the Tamil film “Moondru Mudichu.” After that, she collaborated with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan on several movies. Are you aware that Sridevi made more money for “Moondru Mudichu” than Rajinikanth did? Sridevi acknowledged this on Prakash Raj’s talk program “Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi,” revealing that the 1976 Tamil movie she worked on paid her Rs 5,000. K Balachander directed the movie. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, her co-stars in the movie, received salaries of Rs 2,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.

While she and Rajinikanth were relatively new to the profession at the time, Sridevi said that Kamal Haasan was already a well-known actor.

When Kamal Haasan fell into a lake during the famous picnic scene and Rajinikanth refused to aid him, Sridevi spoke about how anxious she was. “I began shouting “Pootare Pootare” (a colloquial term) instead of saying “Poitare Poitare.” The boat was trembling from Kamal sir’s uncontrollably high-pitched laughter. Subsequently, the director Balachander began to shout and inquire as to why the boat was trembling,” she said.

Unbeknownst to many, Sridevi used to be the highest-paid actress in Bollywood. Reports state that she was also the first to demand Rs 1 crore for a single film.

‘Solva Sawan,’ Sridevi’s first Bollywood film, was released in 1979. The movie was a commercial failure, but she made waves in 1983 when she starred in the box office blockbuster “Himmatwala,” which brought her widespread notice.
