When Actress Neha Was Bit by Vidhu Vinod Chopra During a Scene in Kareeb

Sometimes a torturous creative process is what motivates someone to complete a task they began. Therefore, it’s common to hear actors lament that in order for them to feel real in a part, their directors had them enroll in a class, pick up a new activity, or even change their way of life. However, there are times when individuals get too absorbed in what they’re doing, and Kareeb’s 1998 director, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, seems to have gone through something similar at one point.

Right now, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is enjoying enormous critical success with his most recent movie, 12th Fail. Many masterpieces, including Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, and Mission Kashmir, have been directed by this director. It is easy to assume that Vidhu Vinod Chopra would demand nothing less than excellence from his actors and would go to any extent to extract the necessary talents from an actor given his stellar track record and remarkable directing abilities. But it seems that during the filming of Kareeb, he went a little too far with debutante actress Shabana Raza (better known as Neha). Shabana’s co-star Bobby Deol spoke candidly about the film.

About two years ago, someone provided an old print interview that Bobby Deol was in. Bobby spoke about his experience making the movie in the interview. He said that although he had no problems, the leading woman, Neha, a newbie, had to put up with the director’s fury when a certain sequence was being filmed.

Neha had to offer Bobby her left hand in a certain moment, but each time, she would get confused. She was urged to bite her right palm by Vidhu Vinod Chopra in order to help her recall. However, even after twenty attempts, the director lost patience and bit her right hand since she was unable to obtain the picture. Bobby said that Neha was trembling in terror and that he was too stunned to respond. But on the very next try, she nailed the photo perfect.

Neha’s first movie and Bobby Deol’s third was Kareeb. The actress, who had married Bollywood star Manoj Bajpayee, eventually gave up performing since she could not make a living in the business for too long.
