A case of sexual assault against the mayor of New York

A former employee of New York City filed a lawsuit on Monday, claiming that she was sexually assaulted by Mayor Eric Adams in 1993, when they were both employed for the municipal transit police bureau. She had gone to him for assistance in navigating a toxic work environment. Lorna Beach-Mathura claimed in a 26-page civil lawsuit that Adams, a transit cop at the time, had beaten her in his vehicle while it was parked next to the Hudson River. He had earlier offered to give her a ride home so she could talk about her issues.

Because of Adams’s dual status as a police officer and the head of the NYPD Guardians Association, a fraternal organisation that promoted equality and fair treatment for black personnel, she trusted him and asked for his assistance at the time, the lawsuit said.
Adams vehemently refuted the accusations.
Beach-Mathura said that when Adams forced her hand to rest on his bare genitalia, she resisted his advances and withdrew it, forcing him to climax and discharge on her. Then he took her to a tube station.
