Authorities have issued a grave warning that “multiple natural disasters” will hit China in July

According to news agency AFP, Chinese officials have issued warnings about severe weather and “multiple natural disasters” in the month of July. As a result of the country’s widespread heavy rain, thousands of people have already been evacuated, according to the Xinhua news agency. The alarm was for catastrophes brought on by the rain across central and southern China. According to Xinhua, meteorological organisations have issued warnings that the nation would see “multiple natural disasters in July, including floods, severe convection weather, typhoons, and high temperatures.”

Numerous residences and roads in the Shaanxi province of northwest China were harmed by the weekend’s “once-in-fifty-years” heavy rains. Last week’s floods in Hunan province resulted in the evacuation of over 10,000 residents after more than 2,000 houses were destroyed.

Chinese media broadcast images of automobiles rolling along a flooded road in Hunan and floods rushing past residential buildings and stores. The nation saw record heat waves at the same time as the floods. Beijing residents and those in a dozen other areas were advised to remain indoors as temperatures surged beyond 35 degrees Celsius by China’s national meteorological centre.

In China, the mercury topped 35 degrees on an average of 4.1 days per month in the first half of this year, which is a record high since national records started in 1961, according to the meteorological service. Beijing had a heatwave for a total of 14 days in June.

Experts believe that global warming is mostly to blame for the country’s harsh weather, which has also been seen in other Asian nations where lethal heatwaves and record temperatures have been observed recently.
