Eight households are rendered homeless in Kapurthala as a fire breaks out in shanties

Eight people were left without a place to live when the shanties they were living in at Kadupur hamlet on the Kartarpur road caught fire on Monday night.

In a matter of minutes, the impoverished folks’ possessions reduced to ashes. However, the event did not result in any recorded fatalities. Within two hours, fire extinguishers arrived at the scene and put out the flames.

The Kotwali police station’s SHO, Palwinder Singh, said that the fire was reported yesterday around 4:30 p.m. As soon as PCR personnel arrived on the scene, they took all of the occupants to safety.

According to DSP Harpreet Singh, a short circuit triggered the fire. SDM Irwin Kaur was at the location to keep an eye on things, as did law enforcement and tax authorities.

All eight families were successfully evacuated, according to Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, when fire tenders and representatives of the civil and police administration hurried to the scene. He said that everything was under control and that every effort would be made to prevent such occurrences in the future.
