Elon Musk’s admonition against Big Tech AI giants, “civilization at stake”

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has issued a warning, saying that as the fight against big tech AI intensifies, civilization is in danger.

On X (previously Twitter), a social media user started a conversation over the alleged cooperation of Big Tech AI behemoths, implying that they are banding together to create a cartel that would be shielded by the government. The user contended that these firms are indistinguishable from one another despite their external distinctions since they have the same philosophy, goal, and strategy.

“And they are collectively engaging in intense lobbying to create a cartel that is protected by the government, securing their common goals and tainted goods for many years to come,” the user said.

“The only realistic options are Elon, startups, and open source—all facing coordinated attacks from these same large corporations and allied pressure groups in Europe, the UK, and Washington, DC, and with dwindling numbers of supporters,” the user said.

The post quickly grabbed popularity and resonated with a large number of concerned folks.

“We need to fight, the stakes are high,” said one user.

In response, Elon Musk, who is quite active on the social media network X that he controls, said, “Our entire civilization is at stake.”

Musk has expressed similar worries in the past, emphasizing how population decline poses a serious threat to humankind.

He wrote last year: “The majority of people believe that there are too many people on the earth, yet this is an antiquated viewpoint.

“Assuming there is a benevolent future with AI, I think the biggest problem the world will face in 20 years is population collapse.”
