Protesters against the Gaza conflict disrupt Biden, Obama, and Clinton at a NY event

New York: As demonstrators disrupted the event on Thursday, US President Joe Biden and his Democratic predecessor, Barack Obama, featured as the main attractions at a star-studded fundraiser with former President Bill Clinton. Biden robustly defended the White House’s handling of the Gaza situation.

Amidst the hundreds of guests gathered at the famed Radio City Music Hall, Biden and Obama, escorted by Air Force One to New York, participated in a conversation with Clinton, facilitated by Stephen Colbert, host of “The Late Show.”.

Over $25 million, according to the event’s organisers, was raised for Biden’s US reelection campaign.
However, there were other demonstrations inside the enormous auditorium during the event, with people standing up multiple times to raise their voices and call attention to Biden’s support of Israel in the Hamas conflict in Gaza. Someone cried, “Shame on you, Joe Biden!”
A presidential analysis of the Gaza situation that emphasised the political reality of holding the White House was provided by Obama and Clinton. They added that a president must be able to stand up for Israel while advocating for more access for Palestinians to food, medical supplies, and a future state. Obama said, “That’s a lonely seat.” Obama reacted angrily after a demonstrator inside the cinema cut him off, saying, “You can’t simply speak and not listen…The opposing side acts in this manner.”
Prior to the occasion, hundreds of demonstrators were marching against Israel’s battle with Hamas in Gaza, which is another indication that progressives and some younger people who supported Biden in 2020 are incensed over his unwavering support of Israel. Reuters
