Punjabi leader and lone Lok Sabha MP for the AAP, Sushil Kumar Rinku, MLA, joins the BJP

Sushil Kumar Rinku, the MP for the Aam Aadmi Party and the only member of the Lok Sabha, and party MLA Sheetal Angural joined the BJP on Wednesday, throwing the party into further disarray after its leader and Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, was arrested.

Together with Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and national general secretary Vinod Tawde, Angural, who was elected to the state assembly from Jalandhar West, and Rinku, the MP from Punjab’s Jalandhar, joined the BJP.

The MP said that he was joining the BJP to further the development of Punjab, particularly Jalandhar, and charged that the AAP administration in the state was failing to assist him with these efforts. He praised the Union government for its development measures and expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In order to compete in the bypoll for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, the legislator left the Congress last year and joined the AAP. In the Lok Sabha, he voiced his criticism of the BJP. Because of his disruptive demonstrations, Rinku was even suspended from the House. As the party inducts many powerful leaders of other parties in Punjab to emerge as a major force in the state with 13 seats, the BJP is probably going to field him in the Lok Sabha elections.

Punjabi MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, a three-term Congress member, joined the BJP on Tuesday and said that voters had decided to return Prime Minister Modi to office. Bittu is the grandson of Beant Singh, the previous chief minister of Punjab who was killed in a terror strike while still holding office and a hero of the state’s anti-terrorism fight.
