Andhra Pradesh: Everyone is in awe of this 11-year-old’s photographic abilities!

According to the proverb “A photograph answers 100 questions and reveals unsung stories and themes,” 11-year-old V Harshil Kiran is a photographic prodigy who has achieved remarkable success in the area, garnering several prizes and awards at national platforms that have left everyone in wonder.

Harshil, a seventh-grade student and a Guntur city local, is capturing people’s hearts with his abilities to shoot animals and birds.

Drawing inspiration from his father’s enthusiasm for wildlife photography, Harshil said, “I enjoy taking pictures because it fosters creativity and a sense of connection with the natural world.” His images of landing pelican birds at Uppalapadu Bird Sanctuary, among other natural subjects, brought him national recognition. In addition to being an accomplished photographer who has won several prizes at art exhibitions and established a solid name for his nature photography, his father V Kiran Kumar, serves as deputy inspector general in the Registration and Stamps Department.

Kiran Kumar expressed her opinion, saying, “I was always fascinated with wildlife and wildlife photography is more than a hobby for me and I’m so happy my son also found his calling in it.” Harshil began using a camera to photograph animals when he was nine years old, during the Covid-19 epidemic.

When his father would go to the surrounding towns of Rollapadu, Nagaravanam, Sunkesula Dam, and Nallamala Forest, he would bring him along. He has approximately 200 kinds of wild animals and birds under his belt so far.

Harshil’s affinity for photography was shaped by his close relationship with the natural world. Along the way, he was recognized with a “Rising Star in Photography” award from Pentagram in Kolkata and a gold medal in the finest photography category from the Photographic Society of America.

His many photographs of various animals and birds won him recognition within the photographic communities.

In honor of World Photography Day, he also arranged a personal picture exhibition at the Palnadu district Collectorate, for which district Collector Siva Sankar Lotheti bestowed upon him a certificate of appreciation.

“I want to organize wildlife photography exhibitions at educational institutions to sensitize students about the conservation of animal habitats and travel across India to capture rare birds and animals with my camera,” Harshil said.
