A traffic advisory is issued by Delhi Police on New Year’s Eve. View Details

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have released a traffic advice to guarantee efficient traffic control across the nation’s capital on New Year’s Eve. These limitations, which apply to the national capital’s vicinity of Connaught Place, will be in effect from 8 p.m. on December 31 until the end of the New Year’s festivities. All vehicles used for private or public transportation will be covered.
Limitations on Traffic

After the Mandi House roundabout, the Bengali Market roundabout, the north foot of the Ranjit Singh Flyover (Barakhamba Road – Tolstoy Marg Crossing), the Minto Road – Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg crossing, the Chelmsford Road, the Munje Chowk (New Delhi Railway Station), the RK Ashram Marg – Chitragupta Marg Crossing, the Gole Market roundabout, the New Delhi GPO roundabout, the Patel Chowk, the Kasturba Gandhi Road – Ferozshah Road Crossing, the Jai Singh Road – Bangla Sahib Lane, the Panchkuian Road – Bangla Sahib Lane, the Windsor Place roundabout, the Buta Singh Marg roundabout, and the State Entry Road – New Delhi Railway Station will not permit any vehicle to proceed towards Connaught Place.

Except for individuals with proper passes, no vehicles will be permitted in the inner, middle, or outer circles of Connaught Place.

Parking Scheduling

The following locations around Connaught Place are where drivers can park their cars: on Kali Bari Marg, near Gole Dak Khana; on Pt. Pant Marg; on Bhai Veer Singh Marg; near Patel Chowk on Rakab Ganj Road behind AIR; Mandi House on Copernicus Marg up to Baroda House; on Minto Road on Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg and Press Road area; on Panchkuian Road on RK Ashram Marg; on Chitragupta Road and Basant Road towards Paharganj; and on KG Marg – Ferozshah Road Crossing on Copernicus Lane.

Parking will also be permitted near the roundabouts for the Bengali market on Babar Road and Tansen Marg, Windsor Place on Rajender Prasad Road and Raisina Road, Gole Market at Peshwa Road, Service Road along Bhai Veer Singh Marg and RK Ashram Road, and the roundabout for Buta Singh on Jantar Mantar Road and Raisina Road, according to the advisory.

First come, first served, there will be a limited number of parking spaces available close to Connaught Place. Vehicles parked improperly will be hauled away and face legal action.

The New Delhi Railway Station’s accessibility (from south)

There are now other routes available for travelers heading to the New Delhi Railway Station. However, routes that go to the Old Delhi Railway Station won’t be impacted.

Ram Manohar Lohiya Park Street, Mandir Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, the Jhandewalan roundabout, and Deshbandhu Gupta Road are all accessible routes. The GPO roundabout, Kali Bari Marg, Mandir Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, Jhandewalan roundabout, and Deshbandhu Gupta Road are further options for commuters. Ferozeshah Road, Mandi House, ‘W’ Point, ‘A’ Point, DDU Marg, and BHAV Bhuti Marg make up the third choice.

It is forbidden to enter from Connaught Place, Chelmsford Road. According to the traffic police warning, drivers may use the Ajmeri Gate side’s second entrance gate. They may access the station via Delhi Gate, BSZ Marg, JLN Marg, Ajmeri Gate, Shiela Cinema, and Paharganj.

Unaffected is Old Delhi Railway Station.

Recommended routes for transportation from North Delhi to South Delhi

Travelers can access the Ashram via the Ring Road, which runs from ISBT to the Ashram. Alternatively, they can travel via the Delhi Gate, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Mathura Road, or via ISBT, Rani Jhansi Marg, Panchkuian Road, Mandir Marg, Park Street, Mother Teresa Crescent Road, and other routes.

It is advised that commuters stay away from the following West Delhi routes:

Najafgarh Road and the Outer Ring Road (Janak Puri to Peeragarh Chowk) connect Dwarka Mor and Zakhira flyover. All commercial traffic, including DTC buses, traveling from Raja Garden to Baba Ram Dev Marg (Paschim Puri), would be limited to turning left on Club Road in Punjabi Bagh from 4 PM on December 31, 2023, till 4 AM on January 1, 2024.

Traffic will be rerouted directly in the direction of the Punjabi Bagh roundabout, then left into Rohtak Road in the direction of Paschim Puri.

Recommended path for the travel from East Delhi to West Delhi

Shankar Road, Park Street, Bhairon Road, Mathura Road, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, R/A R.M.L.

It is advised that travelers in South Delhi stay away from the following routes:

Stay off Press Enclave Road. To go to Central Market Lajpat Nagar, Saket should head toward Ring Road, Firoz Gandhi Marg, and Veer Savarkar Marg. Andrews Ganj to Bhisham Pitamah Marg in the direction of New Delhi; Lodhi Road to Ring Road AIIMS.

Due to the New Year’s festivities at Ambience Mall Vasant Kunj, commuters are recommended to take Olof Palme Marg, RTR, instead of Nelson Mandela Road while traveling to Gurugram, since there will be significant traffic.

Avoid the Ring Road between Moti Bagh and Safdarjung Hospital due to a traffic warning near Hauz Khas Village. To go to IGI Airport, take Brig. Hoshiyar Singh Marg and RTR Aurobindo Marg.

Traffic advisory close to Aerocity: commuters who intend to visit the airport are advised to schedule their travel with enough time in advance because traffic movement may be slow due to heavy checking at the Aerocity entrance during the New Year’s celebration at various locations in Aerocity.

The New Year’s festivity at GK-1 Market will keep traffic near Hansraj Gupta Marg busy.
