According to state home minister Anil Vij, a CBI investigation into the murder of INLD’s Haryana chairman Nafe Singh Rathee has been ordered

State Home Minister Anil Vij said in an assembly that the Haryana government will request a CBI investigation into the murder of INLD’s Haryana chairman, Nafe Singh Rathee, according to PTI.

According to reports from the legislature, Vij said, “I assure the members that we will hand over the case to the CBI if the House is only satisfied with a CBI probe.”

Sunday in Jhajjar saw the shooting deaths of a party worker and a former MLA named Rathee by unidentified gunmen. He was traveling in the town of Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar when the assailants fired shots into their SUV. According to news agency PTI, the assault also injured three private gunmen that Rathee had engaged for protection.

When the opposition Congress brought up the subject of Rathee’s death earlier in the day and requested an inquiry into the incident—either by a high court judge or a high court judge-monitored CBI investigation—the Haryana assembly speaker had granted an adjournment motion on law and order.

Congressmen brought up the topic and called for a law and order debate shortly after the Question Hour.

A former Haryana MLA named Naresh Kaushik and eleven other individuals were arrested by the Haryana Police on Monday in relation to Rathee’s murder.
