Additional Setback For AAP: ED Summons Delhi Law Minister Kailash Gehlot Regarding Liquor Policy Case

The Enforcement Directorate has requested that the Delhi minister and AAP leader Kailash Gehlot be questioned in an alleged money laundering case involving the Delhi liquor policy. As an MLA for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) representing Najafgarh, Gahlot oversees the law, transport, and housing ministries for the Delhi government, which is headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was also detained by the federal agency in relation to the case.

Per reports, Gahlot has been summoned to the scene to answer questions on the case and provide a recorded statement in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The lawsuit concerns suspected money laundering and corruption during the development and implementation of the excise policy for 2021–2022 by the Delhi government, which was subsequently abandoned. AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh were previously detained by the ED in connection with the case, and they have been held in judicial custody ever since.
