Adi Shankaracharya’s 108-foot-tall statue unveiled today: MP | All About The Grand Structure

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, will unveil a 108-foot statue of the Hindu guru Adi Shankaracharya on Thursday. The sculptures were built at Omkareshwar, a temple town that is home to one of Lord Shiva’s 12 Jyotirlingas.

A day before the 108-foot-tall “Ekatmata Ki Pratima” (Statue of Oneness) building is unveiled, Chouhan on stated it would be a historic moment.

Chouhan said that Shankaracharya, who was born in modern-day Kerala, arrived in Omkareshwar after passing through mountains and woods on his way to find enlightenment.

The 8th century scholar traveled to Kashi after learning in the temple town in the modern Khandwa district, the CM said.

The multi-metal tall building is located in Omkareshwar, positioned atop the scenic Mandhata hill beside the Narmada river.

Hindu priests and saints in great numbers have already assembled in the temple town during the previous several days and are performing holy rites, such as “yajnas.”

Along with the statue’s unveiling, religious literature will also be published on this occasion. The CM was planned to unveil the big monument on September 18, but the event was postponed due to severe rainfall in the area until September 21.

The project’s $2,141.85 crore budget was used to complete it. The project also included the construction of a museum.
