After 23 days, traffic on the Chandigarh-Ambala route has resumed at Lalru

Normal traffic was resumed on the Chandigarh-Ambala national highway on Tuesday morning, twenty-three days after Haryana Police had closed it at the Jharmari barrier, Lalru, to prevent members of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha from marching to Delhi on February 12.

The iron spikes placed in the concrete mix on the road were removed by the Haryana Police along with the barriers. On Monday night, earthmovers and heavy gear started the road-clearing process on the Haryana side of the border. The workmen found it difficult to get rid of the accessories.

“It was only after vibrators, cutters, and other machinery were pressed into service that the road was cleared on Tuesday morning,” according to a local.

On the Haryana side, the crossings at Shambhu and Khanauri are still closed, and there is now a lot more traffic on the Chandigarh-Ambala route, which is causing congestion in certain areas.

Dera Bassi ASP According to Vaibhav Chaudhary, traffic on the section was resumed early in the morning.

There is now limited access to the location, with cars using a single lane on both sides and some police officers still in place. For two weeks, there were intermittent outages in the internet service until it was fully restored.

Many Haryana districts, including Ambala, have imposed limitations on mass messaging and mobile internet services, which had an effect on a number of villages in the Lalru region. If the farmer leaders choose to march to Delhi along this route, it is unclear how the Haryana government would handle the situation.
