After the PM declares Bharat Ratna for his grandpa, Jayant Chaudhary gives a shoutout

In preparation for this year’s Lok Sabha elections, Jayant Chaudhary, whose Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has formed an alliance with the BJP-led NDA, went to X on Friday to welcome Bharat Ratna for his grandpa, former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

The tweet by Jayant Chaudhary on the microblogging site said, “Dil jeet liya (Won hearts),” which is approximately translated from Hindi.

In reaction to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s declaration of the government’s choice to award Chaudhary Charan Singh the Bharat Ratna, he said.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi stated that Chaudhary Charan Singh’s “incomparable contribution to the country” is the reason why Bharat, India’s highest civilian honor.

“He had devoted his whole life to promoting farmers’ rights and wellbeing. Whether he served as the nation’s home minister, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, or even as an MLA, he always promoted nation-building. The Prime Minister’s tweet, which was loosely translated from Hindi, said, “His dedication to our farmer brothers and sisters and his commitment to democracy during the emergency is inspiring to the entire nation.”

The country of India’s fifth prime minister was Chaudhary Charan Singh. He is known as a “champion of farmers” and had two terms as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Chaudhary Charan Singh’s award of the Bharat Ratna by the BJP is seen as the party’s attempt to engage the Jat community.

In the meanwhile, Jayant Chaudhary’s party has been guaranteed a Rajya Sabha seat and will fight two Lok Sabha seats—Baghpat and Bijnor in west Uttar Pradesh—in accordance with the seat-sharing agreement between the BJP and RLD in the NDA. However, the agreement will formally be announced within the next two to three days.
