Winters in the Union Territory are marked by thick smog and deteriorating air quality. CM Kejriwal announced the winter action plan to reduce pollution while addressing the press conference and said that government measures were to blame for the decrease in pollution in Delhi.

In a news conference, he said that during the last eight years, fewer days had very high pollution levels because of numerous government programs, including the introduction of electric buses and the EV Policy, among others.

The Delhi Chief Minister indicated that the Pusa biodecomposer, which is used to breakdown the stubble and eventually avoid stubble burning, would be sprayed over as much as 5,000 hectares of farmland this year compared to 4,400 hectares last year while announcing the winter action plan.

The biodecomposer, developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), is an important microbial solution capable of converting paddy straw into compost in a matter of 15-20 days.

The government plans to send 385 teams to verify vehicle emission certifications, use 530 water sprinklers to reduce dust pollution, and limit the use of older vehicles.

2018 saw the Supreme Court prohibit diesel and petrol automobiles in Delhi that were older than 10 and 15 years, respectively. Additionally, it said that any operating in violation of this order cars will be impounded.

The National Green Tribunal issued a decree in 2014 outlawing the parking of automobiles older than 15 years in public spaces.

Kejriwal stressed that 611 squads would be in charge of enforcing Delhi’s ban on open burning of trash.

He added exhorted people to download the Green Delhi smartphone application and notify the authorities of any actions that result in pollution.
