Arvind Kejriwal, “These Pakistanis,” as refugees demonstrate over his CAA remarks

Hindu and Sikh refugees demonstrated in front of Arvind Kejriwal’s house, calling for an apology from him for remarks he made opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). The Chief Minister of Delhi attacked the demonstrators, labelling them “Pakistanis,” and questioned their “audacity.”

“These Pakistanis are very daring! They broke our laws by first entering our nation illegally. They ought to have been incarcerated. Do they really think they can cause instability by protesting in our country? Following the adoption of the CAA, citizens would be harassed by Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, who would proliferate across the nation. Kejriwal said on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, “The BJP is causing trouble to the entire country in its own selfish interest of making them their vote bank.”

The demonstration was attended by the Sikh and Hindu immigrants who live in Rohini, Adarsh Nagar, close to Majnu ka Tilla and Signature Bridge. The demonstrators demanded that Kejriwal apologize and take back his remarks against the CAA and migrants.

While Kejriwal is questioning who would provide us with employment and housing, the Narendra Modi administration is granting us citizenship. One of the demonstrators, Panjuram, told PTI that “he does not understand our pain.”

Kejriwal said on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seeks to use the Citizenship and Accommodation Act (CAA) to bring impoverished individuals from minority groups in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan to the nation in order to build a voter base for itself. Additionally, he said that those who relocate here from Bangladesh and Pakistan will be provided housing and employment, which would have an impact on the local population.

On Monday, the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 was put into effect by the Center, opening the door for illegal non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who arrived in India before December 31, 2014, to be granted citizenship.

Kejriwal wrote, “Today some Pakistanis demonstrated and created a ruckus in front of my house,” in another post on X on Thursday. The Delhi Police fully backed them. They are so bold as to demand an apology from a chief minister who was elected with a resounding mandate from the people of Delhi, and the BJP is standing behind them. “The BJP is betraying the country and standing with Pakistanis because of their hatred towards me,” Kejriwal said.
