Assam’s Flood Situation Is Still Serious, Affected Are Approximately 100,000

According to an official report, the flooding in Assam has impacted almost 1 lakh people across ten districts, and the situation is still dire. On Sunday, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) released its daily flood report, which said that over 98,800 persons have been impacted by the flooding in the districts of Sonitpur, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Sivasagar, and Udalguri.

The report claimed that Golaghat was the area most severely impacted, with about 29,000 individuals affected, followed by Dhemaji (28,000) and Sivasagar (13,500). The floods that occurred on Saturday in 12 districts of the state impacted close to 1.08 lakh people. 2,941 persons have sought refuge in 17 relief camps managed by the government in two districts, while 49 aid distribution centers are being maintained in six districts.

According to the ASDMA, 371 settlements are now under water, and 3,618.35 hectares of cropland have been devastated across the state. According to the report, there have been significant erosions in Baksa, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Udalguri, and Tinsukia.

Floodwaters in the districts of Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Morigaon, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, and Majuli have devastated embankments, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure. In Dhubri, Tezpur, and Neamatighat, the Brahmaputra was running beyond the danger level, while its tributary, the Dikhou, was in spate near Sivasagar.
