Barring SAD, all parties are prepared with candidates for the Jalandhar LS seat

With the exception of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), almost every political party has fielded candidates for the June 1 general elections from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency.

Yesterday, the Congress declared former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi as their nominee. Former Akali CPS Pawan Tinu joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) yesterday. Tomorrow is when his declaration as a contender is anticipated. About three weeks ago, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared Sushil Rinku as their candidate after joining the AAP as a sitting member. Additionally, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has once again backed Balwinder Kumar. CPI (M) member Parshotam Lal is also involved in the conflict.

As all political parties submitted their candidates forty-five days before the polls, the Akali leadership also seemed to have been uneasy. Another major blow to the party has been the departure of Pawan Tinu, one of its most well-known Dalit leaders, to the AAP. Tomorrow, SAD president Sukhbir Badal will visit Jalandhar to speak with employees and provide them with encouragement. At the moment, Akalis are ranked very low in Jalandhar’s four urban Assembly constituencies.

Tomorrow, Sukhbir will have talks to choose the final candidates for the reserved seats in Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur. As of right now, former minister Sarwan S. Phillaur and incumbent Banga MLA Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi are not seeming to be as keen as former Phillaur MLA Baldev Khera.

Today, party employees met with SAD district head (rural), Gurpartap Wadala, in Adampur, the Assembly seat Tinu thrice represented.

Since joining the polling contest, each contender has begun teasing the other. Channi has been going for Rinku, who left the Congress and then the AAP to join the BJP, even though he has already begun warning voters not to trust party changers. Now that Tinu has switched from the BSP to the Akali Dal and is most likely running as an AAP candidate, he will use the same story against her.

Be my Krishna, Jalandharites’ Channi.

Charanjit Singh Channi is going to be the focus of other contenders who want to label him as a “outsider.” Channi has already begun retaliating against his enemies by stating, “My ancestors were from Jalandhar.” I just returned to my origins,” he said. In addition, Channi has developed a unique greeting for Jalandharites, saying, “My name is Sudama. As your Krishna, please support me.
