Beef Samosa: Vadodara Restaurant Owners Arrested For Selling Snacks Mixed With Cow Meat

Vadodara: A strange story has surfaced from Gujarat, where the proprietors of a restaurant were detained on Monday for reportedly selling beef-filled samosas in Vadodara. Following a tip, police raided the Hussaini Samosa Center in the Panigate neighborhood of the city and confiscated 113 kg of meat.

A forensic lab received samples of the meat from the police, and upon examination, the lab determined that the flesh was, in fact, cow’s meat. Yusuf Sheikh, Naeem Sheikh, and their four employees were taken into custody by the police after they gathered sufficient evidence against the owners.

Both proprietors admitted after an inquiry that Imran Qureshi, a guy, used to supply beef, which resulted in Qureshi’s arrest. Vadodara Panna Momaya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated that police were notified that certain individuals were offering samosas filled with cow meat for sale.

We have learned that a house was selling samosas made with cow’s meat. During our raids, we confiscated 152 kg of samosa material, 113 kg of meat, and 61 kg of completed samosas. The forensic lab verified that the substance we supplied them was, in fact, cow meat, as the man stated.

Momaya went on to say that the proprietors lacked a license from either the food safety department or the municipal corporation. He claimed, “They were selling these samosas all over the city without telling their customers.”

The Gujarati government revised the Animal Preservation Act in 2017. Anyone found guilty of killing cows faces severe penalties under the new law, which include a life term and a fine ranging from Rs 1 to 5 lakh.
