Before the Oppn’s no-confidence vote, Rajnath Singh criticizes I.N.D.I.A., saying they “won’t erase their past”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday attacked the newly formed Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, saying that calling itself I.N.D.I.A alone won’t “expunge their previous actions from the collective public consciousness” as the opposition moved to bring a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led NDA government at the Center.

The opposition coalition has changed its name in an effort to shed its troubled history, the defence minister said on Twitter. Their prior activities won’t be erased from the general public perception by changing their name to I.N.D.I.A. Singh said, “The people will come to understand the Opposition’s ‘propaganda’ and will vote against the alliance in the Lok Sabha elections next year.”

“The citizens of our country have the wisdom to decipher this propaganda and they will resoundingly reject this refurbished entity,” he said in his tweet.

According to Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of the opposition in the lower house, I.N.D.I.A was preparing to introduce a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday amid the ongoing commotion in Parliament over the opposition’s demand for a discussion on the current situation in Manipur and a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sources earlier on Tuesday said that as part of their demand for a debate over the Manipur situation and a statement from PM Modi, the opposition parties were considering a no-confidence move against the Centre.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh will make remarks about the implementation of the recommendations and observations contained in the 126th and 127th Reports of the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice on Demands for Grants (2023-2024) pertaining to the Department of Personnel and Training and the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions when both Houses reconvene on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Amit Shah, the union’s minister of the interior, will also request permission to propose a bill to update the Registration of Births and Deaths Act of 1969.
According to Lok Sabha, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav would also propose that the Joint Committee’s recommended bill to alter the Forest (Conservation) Act of 1980 be taken into consideration.

The motion to elect the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Council will be made in the Rajya Sabha.

Since the Monsoon Session began on July 20, opposition members have used demonstrations and sloganeering in both Houses, leading to many adjournments.
The opposition parties are pushing for a debate that includes voting even though the administration has said it is prepared for discussion on Manipur.
Up to 26 opposition members have previously joined forces under the coalition I.N.D.I.A.
