BJP Leader Thakur: Manmohan Went Into “Silent Mode” After 26/11 on Sonia’s Advice

Anurag Thakur, a union minister and leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claimed on Tuesday that following the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh entered “silent mode” at the advice of former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and failed to effectively address the strikes.

He said that, in contrast to earlier times, India has now established itself as a nation that aids other countries.

The Information and Broadcasting Minister made these remarks during a public gathering in Khurai, Sagar district, the poor Bundelkhand area, around 200 km from Bhopal, ahead of the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections on November 17. “This shows the growing strength of the country,” the minister remarked.

“Manmohan became ‘Mauni Baba’ and went into quiet mode after the 26/11 assaults. He was instructed not to take any action by then-Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Terrorists have attacked; do nothing. According to Thakur, Sonia Gandhi sent the then-chief minister of Maharashtra along with a film director to shoot a movie on November 26.

On November 26, 2008, ten highly armed terrorists from Pakistan attacked Mumbai, causing mayhem for three days and murdering 166 people, including foreign nationals and security officers, while also hurting many more.

The BJP MP complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and said that he had authorized surgical strikes against the nation that supports terrorism—a clear allusion to Pakistan.

According to Thakur, the Congress party was silent and seemed powerless during the times when the Pakistani flag was flown in the former state and the tricolour was burned in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the BJP spokesman said that after the Modi administration removed Articles 370 and 35A (in August 2019), the tricolour is now flown in every street in Kashmir.

In the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan, two lakh incidences of atrocities against women were documented, with 35,000 women being raped and 15,000 being killed. However, party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra did not go to the western state, according to Thakur.

“Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon” (I’m a female, I can fight) was Gandhi-Vadra’s catchphrase, however he claimed that despite this, he did not defend Rajasthani women.

On December 3, Madhya Pradesh will have a single round of voting to choose a new 230-member legislature.
