For two months, visitors are not permitted at Pune’s Madhe Ghat Waterfall

To prevent any unfortunate incidents at the location during the monsoon, authorities on Thursday forbade visitors from entering the Madhe Ghat waterfall in Pune district for rappelling for the next 60 days. Visitors may rappel down 200–300 feet down the rushing waterfall while clinging onto a rope fixed to the top of the hill at the waterfall, which is situated between the towns of Kelad and Bhirdi in the Velhe tehsil.

“It has been observed that these adventure sport organizers help guests rappel down the waterfall since the area receives a lot of rainfall. Prohibitory orders have been issued for the next 60 days due to the risk of an unfavorable occurrence that might result in the loss of human life, according to an official statement.

Rajendra Kachare, sub-divisional magistrate for the Bhor division, gave the order. The order issued a warning that anybody disobeying it would face legal action under the relevant IPC provisions and the Disaster Management Act.
